Voices from the cup final: “If you’re lucky, you’ll see us for ten minutes at the banquet”

Voices from the cup final: “If you’re lucky, you’ll see us for ten minutes at the banquet”

Sebastian Hoeneß ( VfB Stuttgart coach ): "Actually, there's quite a lot of emptiness right now. You don't understand it yet. I'm overjoyed—you just can't see it because there's so much going on inside me, in all directions. But I'm overjoyed about this win. Tonight will be a long night. I want to pay my boys a huge compliment—it's been a challenging season. For me, it was already good before the game. Now we've refined it."

Maximilian Mittelstädt (VfB Stuttgart): "I'm completely exhausted. The emotions are running high. I can't even put into words the fact that I'm celebrating here with our fans. I think it's the best feeling you can have. I'm overwhelmed. I want to express my deep respect to Arminia Bielefeld – how they handled it, how they came back. They made it extremely difficult for us. They didn't play like a third-division team. It was a worthy final. I wish the Bielefeld boys all the best."

Deniz Undav (VfB Stuttgart): "The feeling is indescribable. I think it took twelve or thirteen years for Stuttgart to win the next title – and that was today. We gave it our all. Each game was just a part of it, but we showed in every game that we could be there. Today it was important to show the mentality, to flip the switch right away – and that's what we did.

about the festivities: "We have to go to the banquet right away. But I don't think we'll be there long. If they're lucky, they'll see us for ten minutes, and then we'll be off."

Nick Woltemade (VfB Stuttgart): "I'd like to win a hat trick. I've got number one now. I hope this relaxed attitude continues. I can only thank my teammates, my family, everyone on the coaching staff. Thanks to everyone who supported me."

Alexander Wehrle (CEO of VfB Stuttgart): "Fantastic. It was incredibly exciting today, being in the final again after such a long time and having the chance to go down in VfB Stuttgart's history books. The boys did a fantastic job today. The atmosphere was fantastic; it felt like the whole of Stuttgart was in Berlin this afternoon. I'm just happy for the team, for the fans, for all of Stuttgart. It was a fantastic evening – and it's far from over. We're definitely not going to bed tonight. Out of the question."

Mitch Kniat (Arminia Bielefeld coach): "We're all disappointed, of course. We had hoped to take home the cup. There were ten or fifteen minutes when we weren't there – and the opponent took full advantage. When I look at the lads' faces, I see tears in some of them. Of course, everyone is very disappointed. And yet, we can be very, very proud of the cup campaign and the entire season in general. Despite everything, the disappointment simply outweighs everything."

Michael Mutzel (Sports Director of Arminia Bielefeld): "I'm incredibly proud of the team. We gave it our all and didn't give up. We played a courageous football game."
